Swimming Therapy - Advanced Halliwick Course
An advanced course within the Halliwick concept,
Focusing on Swimming as a rehabilitative and therapy tool
Swimming therapy - an advanced Clinical Halliwick course that focuses on the different ways to teach independent swimming among people with disabilities.
The course reveals many options for us as clinicians to use swimming as a treatment and rehabilitative tool.
The course offers participants opportunities to develop their abilities to administer treatment and to broaden their understanding of the Halliwick Approach.
The course is designated for graduates of the basic Halliwick course who hold a certificate from the International Halliwick Association with experience in administering aquatic treatment.
Course Learning Objectives:

Understanding the importance of the Halliwick 10 pp in order to improve the Patient's ability to swim independently.

Modifying the swimming stroke according to the patient's ability.

Development of creative thinking in the hydrotherapy treatment while using swimming techniques in order to improve the patient's functional capacity and skills.

Constructing an organized treatment program while using swimming as a treatment tool.

Getting familiar with coaching theory.
Course Formation
The course includes four days of theoretical lectures and practical sessions in the pool.

The Practical work in the pool will focus on different ways for acquiring the ability to swim, and on developing special exercises that can use the swimming as a therapeutic tool.
The pool work will integrate practical experience with patients followed by planning a specific treatment program designed towards the patients' specific needs.
Lecturer: Merav Hadar-Frumer, Senior Lecture, International Halliwick Association, Physiotherapist (MScPT) and a swimming coach.
Course Requirements

Each participant is required to present a treatment program.

Participants will receive preliminary reading material before the course begins.

Participants must be present for the entire duration of the course.

Participants must actively participate in exercises in the pool.

All participants must actively complete all course assignments.
All participants who fulfill all the course requirements will receive a certificate from the International Halliwick Association.
